“Hang on.” A thought suddenly popped into Genevieve’s head, causing her to turn herself around on the uncomfortable wooden bench so she was looking at her best friend more directly. “When’s the next Hogsmeade trip?” To say she was a prefect, she didn’t really pay that attention all that much at the meetings, especially over the past couple of weeks. The only dates she did seemed to know where those for the Quidditch matches, especially the ones where her own team were playing or Gryffindor. “How we going to buy her gifts if we’re stuck in school?” Her eyebrows knitted together when she thought about it. Usually she would have brought up the idea of sneaking out but now with Victoire having lost her Head Girl position over doing it in the past, it didn’t seem like the smartest idea.

“Um…” Victoire’s eyes shifted to the side as she bit her lip, trying to remember.  She had always paid attention, especially for Hogsmeade weekend but recalling the next one was escaping her.  ”It’s the weekend after O.W.L.s so…the…19th?”  She thought for a moment longer before nodding, confirming that it was infact the nineteenth of May.  ”We’ll have to send out invitations before that so people know to get the presents during that weekend.  We should probably keep it a surprise though.”

“Well this is sure going to end well.” Genevieve said dryly, rolling her chocolate brown eyes before letting a lighter laugh past her lips. If Arianna couldn’t help them then the only place that usually didn’t let her down and that was the library, but she couldn’t really imagine them having a book about pregnancy, let alone how to throw a baby shower. “Good.” It was obvious by her suddenly relaxed expression that she was slightly relieved. “The last time I played that, I lost one eyebrow.” She scrunched up her features at the memory, it definitely hadn’t been one of her favourites. She’d spent ages walking around with one eyebrow and not the other, she was still able to remember the funny looks she got. “Alright I’ll ask but I’m sure it’ll be fine, I can’t see how we’d get in trouble for it.”

“Min is so lucky to have friends like us,” Victoire said sarcastically.  She knew she wouldn’t let Minerva have a bad party but when she didn’t know the first thing about planning one, she didn’t have too high of hopes for it to go that well.  ”I don’t think that’d be the best game to play in this case,” she pointed out with a chuckle.  ”Thank you.  I can’t exactly be too careful right now, can I?”

genevievelawson:

“So basically.” Genevieve passed for a moment, a mixture of amusement, confusion and panic visible on her face all at once. She’d never been all that good at planning things, not even when it came to birthdays and usually all that involved was a normal party and presents. “We’re throwing a baby shower and we have no idea what one is?” She wasn’t entirely sure whether to laugh or cry, in all honesty she’d been thinking Victoire would know how to throw one but by the looks at it they were both as bewildered as one another. “Like exploding snaps?” He left hand automatically shot up to her eyebrows, both of which had raised up and disappeared beneath her brown bangs. She wasn’t all that found of games, especially ones that often lead to singed eyebrows. “I’ll ask her but I don’t see how we can get in trouble.”

Victoire couldn’t help but laugh softly, “Pretty much, yeah.”  Victoire really hoped that Lexington could help them because without it, she pictured everything being a disaster.  ”No, definitely not like exploding snaps,” she shook her head, blonde curls going into her face.  ”I just want to make sure we can get a time and a place and not have to worry about sneaking around for it.”  She obviously didn’t want Minerva’s baby shower to end in any detentions but she knew she had to be extra careful after hurricane Dominique had torn through her status among the teachers.

#you ALWAYS lie

genevievelawson:

Genevieve observed her for a moment, her chocolate brown eye’s searching her best friends face as though she was looking for something. It was obvious by the smile that had quickly disappeared shortly after appearing that she wasn’t as alright as she wanted to seem and truthfully, she didn’t exactly blame her for taking it so hard. She’d worked harder than most throughout her time at Hogwarts, she deserved that position and though sneaking off to Hogsmeade probably was against the rules, it still wasn’t fair. “Hexing them probably isn’t the best idea.” She admitted, laughing halfheartedly to try and listen to the mood. The small smile she’d been wearing a moment ago disappeared from her lips, concern and sympathy spreading across her features.  She didn’t want to let the subject drop knowing her friend wasn’t as fine with it as she wanting those around her to believe but instead of pushing it, she decided to go along with the change of subject. “I forgot about that!” She admitted, rubbing the back of her neck and letting her eyelids closed for a moment. She’d been so wrapped up in everything that she’d forgotten about Min’s baby shower. How she’d actually managed to forget even with her studies, Quidditch and James, she wasn’t entirely sure. “What do people do at baby showers?” Her eye’s reopened and she focused on Victoire again, her features scrunched up playfully. She’d never been to a baby shower before, let alone actually throw one for another person.

“There’s one in particular, but I guess that could wait another month,” she said softly but didn’t stay on the subject long.  She hadn’t been to a baby shower either, so she wasn’t really sure either.  Her cousins weren’t that much younger than her so she had never experienced it among the family and didn’t have any friends having kids until now.  ”I don’t know,” she answered truthfully with a frown.  ”I think it’s just presents and food with some games…we’ll have to look into the kinds of games though.”  As an afterthought she added, “Maybe Lexington knows?  If you ask her you could also see when we could do it that wouldn’t get everyone in trouble.”

genevievelawson:

It hadn’t taken Genevieve very long to reach the Quidditch pitch, trying her best to avoid a conversation with those that passed, which proved to be a difficult task. She felt suddenly relief when she reached her destination, the familiar place that had become haven over the years, the one place that she usually turned to whenever she wanted to be alone or simply throw herself into the game that had become so important to her. She took a seat in one of the stands and pulled out her books again, opening it out on her lap and picking up where she’d left off. Every moment or two she’d find herself absentmindedly staring out at the pitch before her, making her wish she’d brought her broom so she’d be able to get up into the sky. She’d gotten over the fact her father had disowned her now, having accepted it and moved on from it. She no longer avoided Quidditch and began to love it again, now playing it because she wanted to and not because she had to.

She’d been that preoccupied with her Potions textbook that she hadn’t even noticed her best friend taking a seat beside her, causing her to jump when she heard her speak and nearly dropping her book. Guilt. That was the first thing she felt when she looked at the blonde in front of her. Of course she’d been told about her being stripped of her head girls position and the reason behind it, but the two of them still hadn’t sat down and had a properly conversation. Actually, it had been awhile since she’d had a proper conversation with any of her friends recently and she had to admit she rather missed them, especially Victoire and Min. “Hey.” Her voice was soft, her familiar crocked smile making it’s way onto her lips, causing the dimples in her cheeks to become visible. “What you doing out here?” She asked, her gaze flickering to the pitch in front of her before focusing on Victoire again. It was probably a stupid question to ask but she found herself actually anyway. It wasn’t that hard to guess why she wasn’t sat inside with everyone else, the entire school seemed to be talking about what happened. It got on her nerves having to hear it and she’d found herself snapping at serve people because it of it, so she hated to think what it was like for her best friend right now.

Victoire sighed, “Because if I sit in there any longer, I’m either going to slap or hex someone.  Seeing as Lexington threatened to take away Quidditch too if I got in anymore trouble, I don’t think that’s such a good idea,” she said softly, trying to make light of it with a small smile, but it quickly faltered.  It would have been bad enough if she had been caught on her own, but the fact that she was told on by her own sister made everything ten times worse.  She honestly wasn’t sure how long it would take to forgive Dominique, if ever.  It wasn’t so much the loss of the position, but the loss of trust between the two of them.

She looked around, wanting desperately to change topics, “So we really need to start planning Min’s baby shower,” she said softly.

Baby Showers & Sisters || VictoireGabrielle

genevievelawson:

The silence of the library always made it easier to concentrate and think, not getting distracted by others, not that it was always a bad thing but with exams, studying was really a priority. Genevieve had spent the last couple of weeks locked away inside, her head buried in her textbooks and having gone through more parchment than she thought possible. Her life was revolved around four things recently, sleep, studying, Quidditch and James, if she wasn’t on the pitch or reading the same textbook she’d read hundreds of times before, it was most likely she could be found passed out in her dorm room or spending time with her boyfriend. Today surprise surprise, she chose to study again. She occupied one of the wooden tables with her parchment scattered across the surface, her potions textbook open and her quill glued to her hand, which she twirled idly as she read. Her chocolate brown curls were tied up in a loose messy bun, having shoved it up that morning just to keep it out of her face. The glasses that she very rarely wore were on the bridge of her nose instead of stuffed on top of her head like they usually were, only ever really needing them when it came to reading but even then she often didn’t wear them. It was hard to focus with the sound of high pitched laughter coming from across the room, probably second years gossiping or talking about things that weren’t all that important. She shot them a glare but they didn’t seem to notice, her eyebrows pulled together out of frustrate as she tried to concentrate on what she was doing. Face it, it’s not going to happen. Letting out a frustrated sigh, she stuffed her belongings into her bag and headed for the door. The Quidditch pitch had to be more peaceful that this, maybe she’d been able to sit in the stands and get a moment of solitude.

Victoire needed to get away from the whispers in the common room.  It was true the only people that knew why she lost the position of Head Girl was her sister, Genevieve, and Minerva, but that didn’t stop the gossiping.  She was exhausted because she had to stay up later than expected the previous night, not being able to concentrate on her Charms essay enough to quickly finish it.  She decided however that the only way to get her mind over the hell that was the previous night, was to head down the Quidditch pitch.  She wasn’t even sure at this point whether she’d fly or just sit and think but she knew she needed some fresh air and to get out of the castle or she would only dwell on the pending letter from her parents, once they found out about everything.

As she approached the pitch, she saw a familiar brunette and her lips formed a small smile.  It seemed like forever ago that she had the chance to sit down with her best friend and just talk and with the baby shower the two of them had to plan, it was important that they do it soon.  She climbed the steps up to where Genevieve sat and took the seat next to her.  ”Hey,” she said softly, giving a weak smile to the girl next to her.
